The Securities Industry Training Institute (SITI)

SITI East Africa is the Securities Industry Training Institute that was established to manage and deliver a wide range of training programs on Capital Markets and Investments; Corporate Finance; Asset Management; Entrepreneurship; Corporate Governance; and related fields of study.

The establishment of SITI East Africa was inspired by the dire need for capital market players in the EA Region to benefit from a systematic and well managed training and capacity building initiative.

Over the years, there has been striking change in the emphasis placed upon training, specialization and professionalism in practically every sphere of business activity. Reasons for this trend include the increasing complexity of science, technology and industry; growing competition from consumers attention and disposable income; a public that is demanding greater efficiency and service; more government and private regulatory bodies that require improved educational and ethical standards; and, finally, the conviction among the individuals, corporations and institutions today that they must gain a broad understanding of their business to succeed.

In view of the foregoing therefore, the idea of a Securities Industry Training Institute (SITI) was conceptualized in 2008. Uganda Securities Exchange Ltd. (USE) together with Nairobi Securities Exchange Ltd (NSE), Dar-es-Salaam Stock Exchange Ltd (DSE), Central Depository & Settlement Corporation Ltd. (CDSC) and Capital Markets Advisory Council of Rwanda (CMAC) agreed to form a standardised curriculum which would be administered by SITI East Africa throughout the East African region.
