Geoffrey Odundo, Chief  Executive 

Goeffrey OdundoMr. Geoffrey Otieno Odundo is the Chief Executive of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited. Mr. Odundo, an accomplished Investment Banker has been in the financial services sector for the last 24 years, 17 of which have been in the Capital Markets in various senior roles in asset management, corporate finance and securities trading. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Odundo was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Securities Limited. He was instrumental in the setting up of Co-op Trust Investment Services, Co-op Consultancy Services Limited and Kingdom Securities Limited. Mr Odundo has advised on a number of corporate finance mandates in both the public and private sectors; he has also managed key mandates in the asset management industry. Mr. Odundo has contributed to the growth of the Capital Markets in his previous role in the Kenya Association of Investment Banks, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and on the Board of the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

He is currently a Director of the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation Limited (Ltd). Mr. Odundo holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management from the United States International University (USIU) and a Degree in Mathematics and Economics.


Andrew Wachira, Business Development & Commercial Director

Mr. Andrew Wachira is the Business Development and Commercial Director. Andrew has over 10 years’ experience at the Exchange having joined the NSE in 2000 as an Intern in the Compliance & Legal Department where he was subsequently taken on by the Company. He has risen through the ranks to Head of Compliance & Legal department; a position he has held since 2009.

During his tenure at the Exchange, Andrew has been central in the planning and implementation of key projects for both the bourse and the overall Capital Markets, including the Demutualization and Self- Listing of the Exchange. He has been instrumental in the set-up and growth of new products including the Growth Enterprise Market Segment (GEMS), the Derivatives Market and currently spearheading the launch of M-Akiba. 

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.


Terrence Adembesa, Derivatives Market Director

Mr. Terrence Adembesa is the Derivatives Market Director. Terrence has over 10+ years’ experience in investment banking and notable achievements in financial sector engagements that have and continue to impact directly on the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

Prior to his current role, Terrence was the Manager - Product Development, at the NSE, with key responsibilities in driving business, the development and implementation of new products and markets and the management of information services. These have included the Growth Enterprise Market Segment (GEMS), the NSE and FTSE International Index Series and a suite of products (Derivatives Market, Real Estate Investment Trusts and Exchange Traded Funds).

He previously worked in Corporate Finance at the Merchant and Investment Banking Division of the Co-operative Bank (K) and at the Enablis Entrepreneurial Network. He is a Global Executive MBA graduate from the United States International University (USIU) and a BBA Management honors undergraduate from the University of Eastern Africa –Baraton. Terry has attended various Capital Markets and Securities Industry Certifications. He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments UK. Off work he has an avid love for rugby having played and served as a past Board Director of the Kenya Rugby Union.


Kuria Waithaka, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director

Mr. Kuria Waithaka is the Legal and Corporate Affairs Director. Kuria is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with over 18 years post admission experience. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is a Certified Public Secretary.

He has extensive corporate and commercial law, compliance, company secretarial, corporate governance and regulatory affairs experience, obtained in both the private and public sectors. He was previously a Partner in the law firm of KN Associates LLP, a boutique corporate and commercial law practice.

Prior to that, he held various senior management roles including the Group Head of Regulatory Affairs at the East African Breweries Limited and Corporate Relations Director, Kenya, the Legal Affairs Manager at the Privatization Commission, Corporation Secretary (and Head of Legal) at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Legal Counsel at Kenya Airways and Compliance Assistant at Citibank N.A. Kenya. He started off his professional career at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates where he was an associate. By virtue of his various roles, he has proven record of leadership in thought and knowledge management, analysis and practical effective resolution of legal and other organizational matters.

A Chevening Scholar, Kuria holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi as well as a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) in Corporate and Commercial law from the University College London (UCL), University of London. He has also undertaken postgraduate studies in Air and Space Law at McGill University, Canada.

Kuria has the responsibility of ensuring that the company has the necessary positive visibility to attract business and increase its market share. He is also responsible for providing necessary legal advice and guidance to facilitate effective strategy execution.


Jane Kiarie, Finance & Administration Director

 Ms. Jane Kiarie is the of Finance and Administration Director. Jane joined the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in 2012. Prior to joining the NSE, Jane had accumulated four years’ experience as a Financial Controller/ Head of Finance and Administration in various organizations.

She also worked as an Associate Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers Limited, Kenya in Advisory Consulting within the Accounting and Operations Effectiveness line of service. In addition, she worked with Deloitte (both in Kenya and the USA) for about 11 years in audit where she gained valuable experience in providing auditing, accounting, compliance, internal controls reviews, risk identification and management, financial reporting and management services across many sectors of the economy.

Ms. Kiarie is a holder of Masters in Business Administration, Strategic Management from the United States International University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics (Statistics Major) from the University of Nairobi. She is also a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.


Caleb Kivuva, Operations & Technology Director

Mr. Caleb Kivuva Musau is the Operations and Technology Director. Caleb has fifteen (15) years’ experience where he has been involved in progressive technology environments in various capacities in both the private and public sectors. His career spans varied specializations including systems development, project management, information systems assurance audits, strategy formulation among others.

Mr. Kivuva’s industry exposure includes leadership of IT assignments in manufacturing, service, financial and hospitality where he initiated and conducted assignments integrating cross functional teams and stakeholders for the value of these industries. 

Caleb holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics & Physics from Kenyatta University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance at the University of Nairobi. Additionally, he holds certifications in Information Security Management (CISM), Information Systems Audit (CISA), SAP ERP (Finance) Functional Consultant, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Capital Markets Operations (OCP by ICMA).


Tom Kimaru, Regulatory Affairs Director

Mr. Tom Kimaru is the Regulatory Affairs Director. Tom has over ten (10) years’ experience within the capital markets in operations, trading, surveillance, compliance & legal aspects gained from Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

Additionally, he has expertise in budgeting & financial management, compliance reviews, audit, risk management and analysis, corporate governance audits, corporate finance transactions, financial reporting, planning & analysis; and assurance and related services.

 He is a holder of a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Diploma in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of ICPAK. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Strategic Management at the University of Nairobi.
